Bangladesh is a country of south-central Asia, is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, and its people are predominantly Muslim.

As a sovereign state, Bangladesh requires all foreigners to obtain permission to enter its territory. Visas are issued by Bangladesh missions located throughout the world or on arrival to Bangladesh.

BANGLADESH VISA EXEMPTION

According to data provided by IATA, citizens of the following 23 countries are exempt from visa requirement:

     Barbados

     Botswana

TYPES OF BANGLADESH VISA

Citizens of most countries require valid visa to enter Bangladesh. The Embassy will determine the type and category of visa and duration of stay upon receiving an application. Bangladesh has different types of visas depending on the purpose and length of your visit.

Tourist visa

This visa is issued for foreigners who want to visit Bangladesh for the purpose of tourism or casual visit to meet friends & relatives or to join in a seminar/conference/workshop/study tour or religious purpose etc.

Business visa

Business visa in Bangladesh is valid for six months and as this is a multiple-entry visa. You can extend your business visa to Bangladesh for up to three to five (3-5) years. A business visa does not allow you to work in Bangladesh.

Student visa

This visa is issued for an individual who is a regular student or student seeking admission/researcher in any government approved educational institution in Bangladesh

Employment visa

This visa allows its holder to be employed and work in the country.  It is a multiple-entry visa, and it is initially valid for three (3) months.

Diplomatic/Official visa

This visa is required for diplomatic or official government purposes.

 

Investor visa

The primary purpose of the investment visa in Bangladesh is to permit the holder to attend and hold business meetings. But of course, these meetings must be related to their investments within the country.

Journalist visa

This visa issued for an individual who is a foreign journalist of newspapers/magazines/TV or radio networks/ news agencies/ representatives of print, electronics or satellite media/freelance journalist want to visit Bangladesh for the purpose of collecting information/news or official duty. A Journalist visa may be issued for maximum one (01) month with single/double/ multiple entries.

NGO visa

An individual who appointed in a NGOs registered in Bangladesh, he /she is eligible to apply for NGO visa. A NGO visa may be issued for maximum three (03) months with single, double or multiple entries . Duration of stay in this category is maximum 90 days in each visit.

Transit Visa

A transit visa allows the holder to stay in Bangladesh for a maximum of 72 hours. This visa is for those who are passing by the country before they reach their last destination.

BANGLADESH VISA REQUIREMENTS

Depend on the purposes of stay, each types of visa has different requirements.

General requirements:

  1. a) Passport with at least three (03) months validity.
  2. b) Two (02) recent passport size photographs.
  3. c) Photo copy of pages of passport having detail particulars.
  4. d) Filled up two visa application forms
  5. e) For employment & student visas 03 sets of applications are required.

f)Invitation and covering letters are required preferably the original or fax copy.

g)Copy of Indian valid visa is required to be enclosed with the application of foreign nationals (other than Indian).

h)Please pay only exact amount of visa fee in cash (in Rupees) applicable to other than Indian nationals and change is not available in the visa counter and collect the money receipt in this regard.

In addition to common requirements below, each types will required some additional documents as following:

Tourist Visa

In addition to common requirements, proof of applicant’s profession shall be submitted.

Business Visa

  • Covering letter from applicants own company.
  • Invitation letter from Bangladeshi company.
  • Proof being a businessman/or his representative.

Student Visa:

  • Offering letter from the concerned government recognized educational institution in Bangladesh.
  • Bank solvency certificate of the guardian.
  • Sponsorship certificate provided by guardian confirming the commitment to bear the educational expenses.

Official visa

In addition to common requirements, note verbale from respective Govt./Mission/UN organization, etc.

Journalist Visa:

    A support letter from his/her organization describing the purpose of his/her visit;

    Duly filled in FF-I and FF-II forms;

    Duly filled-in visa application form.

    A recommendation letter from organization/ News angency

Investment visa:

Letter from BOI/BEPZA stating that the applicant is an investor.

NGO visa:

The following documents will be required for NGO visa:

  • A certified letter from the concerned NGO in Bangladesh which should be duly attested by the NGO Affairs Bureau, Dhaka;
  • An appointment letter with full terms and conditions from the NGO where the applicant is going to join;
  • A letter from the present employer where the applicant belongs to;
  • Two copies of 45mm X 35mm photographs;
  • Duly filled-in visa application form.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A BANGLADESH VISA

Before applying for Bangladesh visa you should check the time require to process the Bangladesh visa to be issued. Then you find out all the information regarding the application, you can follow these guideline:

Step 1: Gather documentation

Make a check list of the documents that you need to submit along with your application form. Gather all the documents and keep them ready for submission.

Step 2: Submit visa application

Submit your completed visa application form in person or through a representative or travel agent at the Turkish Embassy or Consulate nearest to you, along with all the required documentation. Pay the applicable fee for your visa application at the time of submitting your application form.

Step 3: Collect your visa

After your visa is issued you will be notified about it. Collect your visa on time.
