Bhutan, officially the Kingdom of Bhutan, is a landlocked country in South Asia. Located in the Eastern Himalayas. Bhutan is geopolitically in South Asia and is the region’s second-least-populous nation after the Maldives. Thimphu is its capital and largest city, while Phuntsholing is its financial center. Bhutan Visa Requirements
- Every visitors to Bhutan requires a tourist visa. Exception are India and Bangladesh passports holders.
- Visas are only issued to tourists whom booked tour packages with local tour operators, directly or through a foreign travel agent.
- Visa application is submitted by tour operator on behalf of visitors.
- Visa is issued by Tourism Council of Bhutan in Thimphu, Bhutan.
- The Royal Government of Bhutan sets minimum selling prices for packages to Bhutan and this must be paid in US dollars prior to arrival in Bhutan.
How to Apply for Bhutan Visa
Below are steps that you should follow to apply for a Bhutan Visa:
- Book your tour package with a licensed travel agent, a local tour operator.
- Purchase & confirm your air-tickets with Drukair or Bhutan Airlines.
- Ensure that you have a passport with at least six months validity at the point of arrival in Bhutan
- Provide the information required as listed below
- Full name as per passport
- Occupation
- Mailing address
- Contact No. (mobile preferred)
- Submit a scanned copy of your passport as per sample
- For students, submit a scanned copy of student ID for student discounts.
Bhutan Visa Fees
The total cost for a Bhutan Visa is USD 250 per day during peak tourist season (March-May and September – November), and USD 200 a day for the low season (December – February and June – August). This fee is inclusive of accommodation, transportation, meals, plenty of bottled water and special entry fees.
The tourists need to obtain a visa clearance before the Bhutan trip. Visas are processed through an online system by the licensed Bhutanese tour operators directly.
