Cameroon is a country wedged in West and Central Africa. It is very rich in natural landscapes composed of active volcanoes, white-sand beaches, lush rainforests and peculiar rock formations.

Visitors to Cameroon must obtain a visa from one of the Cameroonian diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries.

Citizens of the following 6 countries can visit Cameroon without a visa for up to 90 days:

  • Central African Republic
  • Chad
  • Congo
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Gabon

NigeriaHolders of diplomatic or service category passports issued to nationals of China, Italy and Turkey do not require a visa for Cameroon.

Visa waiver agreement for diplomatic and service passports was signed with  Vietnam and it is yet to come into force.

TYPES OF CAMEROON VISA

Tourist visa

This type of visa is issued for the travelers who come to Cameroon for tourism purposes.

Transit visa

This visa is for those who are passing by the country before they reach their last destination.

Business visa

A business visa is given to those who are planning to visit Cameroon for engaging in temporary work or business.

CAMEROON VISA REQUIREMENTS

Travelers to Cameroon will need to compile these items to support the visa application:

  • Valid Passport
  • Passport Photos that meet the Embassy of Cameroon’s guidelines
  • Proof of Travel Arrangements
  • Proof of Sufficient Funds
  • Vaccination Certificate for Yellow Fever
  • Hotel Confirmation
  • Properly Completed Cameroon Visa Application Form
  • Money Order

Depending on the purpose of your trip to Cameroon, you may also need:

Business Visas: company letter guaranteeing stay in Cameroon and stating the reasons for visit, a signed work contract from cameroon (if it exists).

Student Visas: should be accompanied by a letter from the institution where the applicant intends to study, together with and evidence of financial means while in cameroon.

Visitors/Tourist Visas: hotel reservation where applicant will be lodging.

Employment Visas: should be accompanied with a contract of employment in Cameroon. Please provide a reference from the company or organization-employing applicant, and an authorization to work in Cameroon, issued by the Cameroon government.

Transit Visas: enclose a valid to and return air ticket showing on ward or final destination; and passport should have visa for the said destination.

Short Stay Visas to visit family members : a letter of invitation from a family member or friend, signed by a competent local authority.

HOW TO APPLY A CAMAROON VISA

Unlike other countries, Cameroon don’t allow to apply for a visa on arrival. You must go to the consulate or embassy to submit visa application.

Step 1: Gather documents

Make a check list of the documents that you need to submit along with your application form. Gather all the documents and keep them ready for submission.

Step 2: Submit visa application

Submit your completed visa application form in person or through a representative or travel agent at the Cameroon Embassy or Consulate nearest to you, along with all the required documentation.

Step 3: Collect your visa

After your visa is issued you will be notified about it. Collect your visa on time.
