Eritrea is in East Africa, bordering the Red Sea, between Djibouti and Sudan, with a long disputed border with Ethiopia.
Visitors to Eritrea must obtain a visa from one of the Eritrean diplomatic missions, unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries or countries eligible for visa on arrival.
Citizens of Uganda can visit Eritrea without a visa.

Citizens of Sudan and Ethiopia may obtain a visa on arrival for Eritrea.
Holders of diplomatic, service passports and passports for public affairs of China are visa exempt for 60 days.
Holders of a confirmation of a pre-arranged visa can obtain a visa on arrival, provided the sponsor in Eritrea submits a request to the Eritrean Immigration Authority 48 hours prior to arrival.

Passengers with a confirmed onward ticket for a flight to a third country within 72 hours. They must have documents required for the next destination.
You need a visa to enter Eritrea. Visa applications can take a significant amount of time to process, so you should plan well ahead. Please be advised that visa processing time may take up to one week and visa validity is 90 days from the date of Issue. Business Visa can allow one month/ three months stay from the day of arrival to Eritrea depending on the approval received from Immigration Office in Asmara – Eritrea.
