Latvia is a Baltic state in Northern Europe. Latvia is bordered by Estonia to the north, Lithuania to the south, Russia to the east, Belarus on the south east, and the Baltic Sea on the west.

Transit visa –a transit visa is required if there is a scheduled layover of a few hours in Latvia before heading to your destination.
Official visit visa – If your travel is related to attending intergovernmental meetings, consultations, negotiations or events, you will need to apply for a special official visit visa.
REQUIREMENTS FOR LATVIA SCHENGEN VISAS
General required documents:
- Passport
- Visa application form with photo
- Invitation letter
- Travel medical insurance policy
- Air ticket booking record (round trip)
- Proof of accommodation
- Family book
- ID card
Depending on the purpose of stay, some additional may be required as the following:
Business visit:
- Business license of the company, documents proving the business activities of the company
- Introduction letter of the company
Containing stating address, telephone/fax-numbers, position and salary of the visa applicant, subject of the intended business activity, including signature and seal of the company
- Other documents which show the existence of trade relations or relations for work purposes
Tourism/private visit:
- Documents relating to the itinerary
Confirmation of the booking of an organised trip or any other appropriate document indicating the envisaged travel plans
- Proof of financial means (translated to English)
Original bank statement and document of bank transactions for the last 6 months;
- Letter from the employment
Stating the applicant’s name, position, guarantee of leave for the duration of the trip as well as salary. The certificate has to include address, telephone and fax numbers and the seal of the company or school.
Visa for Medical Purposes:
- A local medical report
- A medical attestation from the hospital or doctor in Sweden, confirming the date of your appointment as well as your medical situation
- Payment receipt of medical fees
HOW TO APPLY FOR A VISA TO LATVIA
To obtain a Latvia visa, you should consider the following steps:
