Moldova is a small land-locked country in Eastern Europe, north of the Balkans, surrounded by Romania to the southwest, across the Prut river, and Ukraine to the northeast.

The Government of the Republic of Moldova allows citizens of specific countries/territories to visit Moldova for tourism or business purposes without having to obtain a visa, often based on bilateral agreements.

VISA EXEMPTION

Citizens of the 102 countries and territories, as well as stateless persons and refugees residing in those countries, respectively, can enter the Republic of Moldova without a visa for a period of up to 90 days within any 180 day period.

REQUIREMENTS OF MOLDOVA VISAS

The following is common required documents for applying a tourist visa, for other types of visas, some additional may be required.

  • Application Form (download);
  • Travel document (passport) issued in the past 10 years, valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended date of leaving the territory of the Republic of Moldova (in the case of minors – additionally the birth certificate and the passport of the legal representative);
  • A recent mat, colour photo 35mm x 45mm;
  • Reservation at a tourist accommodation unit classified in accordance with the law or, if applicable, the commitment of maintenance and accommodation filled and signed by a person from the Republic of Moldova (download).

  • Invitation issued by the Bureau for Migration and Asylum or, the resident’s permit or valid Visa issued by a member state of the European Union or of States Parties to the Schengen Agreement (except Transit Visa);
  • Reservation of a round-trip ticket valid up to destination or, the driving license, the green card and the registration documents of the vehicle, if traveling by car;
  • Travel medical insurance valid on the territory of the Republic of Moldova (minimum cover 30.000 euro);

Requirements for Temporary Residence Visa/Work Visa

Anyone wishing to live and work in Moldova will be required to apply for a temporary residence visa. To obtain a temporary visa for employment purposes, you will need to secure a job offer from a Moldovan company or government department, or a foreign company based in Moldova. The criteria for approval of an employment visa include suitable educational qualifications or work experience, a secured employment contract in Moldova, provide proof of adequate means of subsistence in Moldova, police confirmation that you have no criminal record, and a satisfactory medical examination. All official documents must be translated into Romanian language.
