Niger is an arid, landlocked country of the Sahel with a population of 16 million. It is bordered by Algeria, Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin, Nigeria, Chad and Libya. The land is mostly desert plains and dunes, with rolling savanna in the southeast.

Visitors to Niger must obtain a visa from one of the Nigerien diplomatic missions unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries.

Citizens of the following 19 countries can visit Niger without a visa:

TYPES OF NIGER VISA

There are many types of Niger visa depending on the purpose of stay, the following are the most common types of visa people often apply for entering Niger:

  • Tourist visa
  • Business visa
  • Transit visa
  • Diplomatic and Official visa

REQUIREMENTS OF NIGER VISA

General requirements of visa to enter Niger for all applicants:

  • Valid passport.
  • 3 visa application forms duly filled out and signed.
  • 3 recent passport-size photographs.
  • International Vaccination Certificate:
    – Yellow Fever is mandatory
    – Cholera is required only if traveling from a country where an outbreak of the disease has been reported. (Mostly from the neighboring countries).

According to the purpose of stay, some additional documents may be required as the following:

Diplomatic, official visas requirements:

The usual courtesy note (2 copies) from the respective government agency or from the organization that is being represented

Transit Visa

Either 2 photocopies of round trip ticket and/or 2 of itinerary,
– or a letter (2 copies) from the travel agent certifying that round trip ticket has been purchased.

Tourist Visa:

A letter (2 copies) from the travel agent certifying that round trip ticket has been purchased.

A letter (2 copies) from the bank certifying that the traveler has at least $500.00 in his/her savings account. (This applies to travelers who are going by road).

Business Visa

A letter (2 copies) from the company that is being represented stating:
– purpose of trip – activities to be performed and duration of stay – source of financial responsibility for any expenses incurred by the employee.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A NIGER VISA

If you want to apply for a Niger visa, you should consider the following steps:

Step 1: Gather documents

Make a check list of the documents that you need to submit along with your application form. Gather all the documents and keep them ready for submission.

Step 2: Submit visa application

Apply for your visa. Submit your visa application and required documents to the nearest Niger embassy or consulate in your country

Step 3: Receive your visa stamp.

After your visa is issued you will be notified about it. Collect your visa on time.

Note:

In order to avoid unnecessary delay in the issuance of your visa, it is important that you complete our visa application forms thoroughly and accurately. For example:

if you have more than one Christian name please give them in full.
– place of birth- frequently omitted.
– place, month and date of passport issuance -frequently omitted.
– passport numbers given on the application forms must be identical to those of your passport.
– “persons to contact in case of emergency" is equally important.
