Taiwan is located off the coast of southwest of Okinawa, Japan and north of the Philippines. The island has been governed by the Republic of China (ROC) since 1945.

Visitors to Taiwan (officially known as the Republic of China, or the ROC) must obtain a visa or authorization in advance, unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries or countries whose nationals are eligible for visa on arrival.

VISA EXEMPTION

Holders of passports issued by the following 54 countries do not need a visa to visit Taiwan for trips less than 90 days:

Holders of passports issued by the following 8 countries do not need a visa to visit Taiwan for trips less than 30 days:

  •   Belize
  •   Dominican Republic
  •   Malaysia
  •   Nauru
  •   Saint Kitts and Nevis
  •   Saint Lucia
  •   Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  •   Singapore
 

Holders of normal passports issued by the 4 following countries do not need a visa to visit Taiwan for trips less than 14 days. They must hold proof of funds and hotel reservation or contact information in Taiwan. Holders of diplomatic and official passports are not eligible and must obtain a visa.

HOW TO APPLY FOR TAIWAN VISA

To obtain a Taiwan visa, you can apply for it online or in advance. We will give you some instruction to apply for a Taiwan visa in advance at the embassy or consulate:

Step 1: Gather documents

Read the guidelines from the consulate, then choose visa type. Start collecting required documents and money

Step 2: Submit visa application

Submit your completed visa application form in person or through a representative or travel agent at the Taiwan Embassy or Consulate nearest to you, along with all the required documentation. Pay the applicable fee for your visa application at the time of submitting your application form.

Step 3: Wait for visa decision

After your visa is issued you will be notified about it. Collect your visa on time.

VISA PROCESSING TIME

It normally takes 2 to 5 working day to process an application from the day when your application is received.
