Thailand is a beautiful country, an attractive place for travelling. Visitors to Thailand must obtain a visa from one of the Thai diplomatic missions unless they come from a visa-exempt country or a country whose citizens are eligible to obtain visas on arrival.
Thailand currently offers visa-free travel to nationals of 57 countries and territories. The Thai government maintains bilateral agreements on visa waivers with some of these countries. Nationals of 21 countries can obtain a visa on arrival.
Thailand plans to introduce electronic visas in 2018. The Thai Government have announced that the electronic visa for Thailand will be available before the end of 2018. Citizens from France, the UK, the UAE and China will be able to process their travel visas for Thailand online.
90 days (5 nations)
The governments of the following countries have concluded bilateral visa waiver agreements with Thailand. Holders of normal passports from these countries are allowed to travel to Thailand without a visa for 90 days: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, South Korea, Peru.
30 days waiver (6 nations)
Holders of normal passports issued by these countries which have bilateral agreements on visa waivers with Thailand are allowed to stay up to 30 days: Hong Kong, Laos, Macao, Mongolia, Russia, Vietnam.
30 days exemption (51 nations)
Holders of normal passports of the following countries are granted visa-free travel to Thailand for a period of up to 30 days. The exemption is granted at most twice in a calendar year when entering overland or via a sea border but there is no limitation when entering by air.

Under bilateral agreements, holders of normal passports of the following 2 countries can stay without a visa for a maximum of 14 days: Cambodia and Myanma.

For different types of visa, you must submit additional documents:
Tourist Visa
- Requirements are as stated in general documents.
- Multiple entry visa will be at the embassy’s sole discretion upon reviewing the applicant’s documents in relation to purpose of visit.
Business Visa
In addition to general documents,
- An invitation letter from company/organization in Thailand stating purpose of visit
- A Letter of Employment from current employer stating applicant’s position, salary, length of employment and purpose of visit
- If sole trader, please provide a photocopy of local business registration certificate
- ***Applicants applying for group training in Thailand will need to submit their application at least 1 month in advance and notify their respective organizers in Thailand to contact the Consular Department.***
- Multiple entry visa for business will be at the embassy’s discretion upon reviewing the applicant’s documents in relations to sufficient proof of ongoing business activities.
Employment Visa
In addition to general documents,
- A Letter of Acceptance from employer in Thailand stating applicant’s position, salary, and length of employment
- A photocopy of the applicant’s work contract
- A photocopy of concerned company/organization’s registration (list of shareholders, company profile, balance sheet statement of income tax) and business license in Thailand
Education Visa (Private School/Institute)
In addition to general requirement,
- Approved letter from Office of the Private Education Commission
- An Acceptance Letter from school stating course duration
- A photocopy of course curriculum and school profile
- A photocopy of school license and a signed photocopy of Principal’s license
- ORIGINAL receipt of paid tuition
Diplomatic And Official Visit (Valid Only For Diplomatic Passport, Un Passport)
In addition to general requirement,
- Letter of Employment stating applicant’s position and purpose of visit
- Official letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Tourist Visa
