After attending the interview, you will want to check your visa result. There are several ways that you can use to track your visa through your passport. Read carefully the following information, choose the most suitable way for you to track your visa application status.

You can check the status of your visa application by entering the location of your interview and DS160 barcode number here:

Another way, you also can check the status of your visa application at https://www.ustraveldocs.com. Choose your location and then click on track and retrive my passport to fill out your passport number.

You also can check your visa application status via email. Send an e-mail to passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com and in the subject and/or body enter a valid passport number exactly as it was entered at the time the appointment was scheduled. Do not include any additional text. You will receive an automatic response with the status.

Beside checking through passport methods as above, you can have many other ways to check you visa status.

If you are outside of United States, Contact the U.S. Embassy or consulate where you filed your application. 

Understand your visa checking status

When you use the Visa Status Check Online (CEAC Status Check), you will receive one of the following result for your status:

    Application receipt pending: It means that the application data has not been entered into the Embassy system. In some case, this status will appear until you appear for an interview.

    Application Received: It means that the visa application has been received by the Embassy and is undergoing review or pending for additional documents. Keep ready for an interview if necessary.

    Administrative Processing: It means that your visa case is currently undergoing administrative processing. It will take several weeks.

    Issued: It means that your visa has been issued. Generally, the passport will be mailed out within 3-4 days.

    Refused:  It means that your application was refused.
