Uzbekistan is within the South-Central Asian Union and has borders with other member states of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. It is doubly landlocked, but includes the southern shoreline of the Aral Sea.

According to the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan foreign citizens and stateless persons can enter Uzbekistan or travel through its territory for transit on the basis of entrance visas only.

Foreign citizens and stateless persons can get visas at the diplomatic representations and consular missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan abroad on the basis of the visa support (confirmation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan).

TYPES OF UZBEKISTAN VISA

Visa types differ depending on certain purposes and reasons of a visiting person. The following types are available:

– D-1 (diplomatic): permanent employees of diplomatic representatives, consular offices, and representatives of international organizations

– D-2(diplomatic): temporary employees of diplomatic representatives; consular offices and representatives of international organizations

– DT (diplomatic): diplomatic personnel arriving in Uzbekistan for tourist purposes

– S-1 (service): permanent employees of diplomatic representatives, consular offices, and representatives of international organizations, where such employees do not have diplomatic passports

– S-2 (service): temporary employees of diplomatic representatives, consular offices, and representatives of international organizations, where such employees do not have diplomatic passports

– S-3 (service): persons who are coming to Uzbekistan for a business trip, where such persons have been invited by State bodies

– O (official): members of official delegations coming to Uzbekistan by invitation from the government or parliament

– B-1 (business): permanently accredited employees of representative offices of foreign firms and companies

– B-2 (business): business representatives

– T (tourist): tourism

– TG (group): tourist groups consisting of no less than 10 persons

– E (work): persons who are employed in the territory of Uzbekistan

– J-1(mass media): permanently accredited employees of foreign mass media

– J-2 (mass media): temporarily accredited employees of foreign mass media

– PV-1 (private): persons visiting Uzbekistan as guests by invitation of citizens of Uzbekistan

– PV-2 (private): persons visiting Uzbekistan as guests by invitation of foreigners who are permanently accredited in Uzbekistan

A-1 (education): students, interns/trainees, and PhD students studying in the territory of Uzbekistan

A-2(teaching): professors/teachers of schools/universities within the system of the Ministry of Public Education and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan

C-1 (crew members): crew members of aircrafts and trains

C-2: drivers of vehicles

REQUIREMENTS OF UZBEKISTAN VISA

For your Uzbekistan visa application you will need to  bring:

  • your passport. You need to have at least 2 empty pages left and 6 months validity after expiry of the visa
  • a copy of your passport (you can keep your passport during processing)
  • 1 filled-out Uzbekistan visa application form (download and print it from here)
  • a letter of invitation if you need one
  • 2 passport pictures

Theoretically, you cannot apply more than 3 months in advance. For a transit visa, proof of onward travel is needed

HOW TO APPLY FOR AN UZBEKISTAN VISA

If you cannot apply to the e-visa website, you will need to apply through an embassy. To do this, you might first need a letter of invitation.

Unlike the e-visa, an embassy visa does not have a 90-day window of validity in which you can use your 30 days in the country. An embassy visa is fixed date and valid for 30 days. You fill in the dates you want on your application form, and these are the dates you will be granted to visit Uzbekistan.

There are 51 countries that did not need a letter of invitation to apply for their Uzbekistan tourist visa at the embassy. Check out if you need letter invitation or not.

After acquiring the letter of invitation, you can go to the embassy. First, however, you need to fill in a form online and print it.

After you fill in your data in the form on the site and print out the form, you take the print-out to the embassy of your choice for your visa application.

Processing of visa application is up to 10 working days if documents have been submitted due to the established order.
