Albania is a country in the Balkans with nearly 3 million inhabitants. The country has been part of Ancient Greece, the Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire until its first declaration of independence in 1912, and is one of few traditionally Muslim nations in Europe.

VISA FREE COUNTRIES

Visa policy of Albania is similar to the visa policy of the Schengen Area. It grants 90-day visa-free entry to all Schengen Annex II nationalities, except for Dominica, East Timor, Grenada, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. It also grants visa-free entry to several additional countries – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kuwait and Turkey.

TYPES OF ALBANIA VISA

Albania classifies their visas according to how long you’ll stay in Albania and the purpose of your trip.

Albanian Airport Transfer Visa (Type A)

This type of visa is for someone who is switching planes inside of Albania and isn’t going to be in the country for very long.

Transit visa (Aeroportual visa) (type B)

This type of visa is for someone who is switching planes inside of Albania and isn’t going to be in the country for no more than 5 days.

Short term visa (type C)

Tourist visa: This type of visa is for someone who is taking an extended tourist trip.  If you’re looking for a tourist visa, this is what you want!

Visa for Cultural or Sports Reasons for Albania: This type of visa is for someone who is visiting in a cultural capacity or is participating in sports. This visa is good for 90-180 days.

Visa for Official Purposes: This type of visa is for someone who is meeting with the government of Albania on official business.

Visa for Medical Purposes: This type of visa is for someone who is wanting to get medical treatment in Albania.

Visa for Work Reasons:  This type of visa is for someone who is taking a short business trip. 

Long term visa ( types D)

This type of visa is for someone who is staying in Albania from 180 days to 1 year.  A work visa is included with this type of visa.

ALBANIA VISA REQUIREMENTS

Business and Tourist Travel Requirements:

  • Passport Requirements: Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, and with at least one blank visa page available for visa stamp(s).
  • Proof Of Departure: Confirmed round-trip or onward airline ticket.

Transit Travel Requirements:

  • Passport Requirements: Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, and with at least one blank visa page available for stamp(s).
  • Proof Of Departure: Confirmed onward airline ticket.
  • Other Requirements: Valid onward destination visas (if applicable).

Diplomat/Official Travel Requirements:

  • Passport Requirements: Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay, and with at least one blank visa page available for visa stamp(s).
  • Other Forms: Official Letter of Support from the US Department of State.
  • Proof Of Departure: Confirmed round-trip airline ticket.
  • Special Instructions: If the diplomat is staying over 30 days, they must register at the local police department for an extension of 60 days or less.

HOW TO APPLY AN ALBANIA VISA

Step 1: Gather required documents

Make a check list of the documents that you need to submit along with your application form. Gather all the documents and keep them ready for submission.

Step 2: Submit visa application

Once everything is ready, submit your documents to the consulate.

Step 3: Collect your visa

If your visa application is accepted. The Albanian Consulate/Embassy will give to you your brand new Albanian visa via mail or in person!

COST OF ALBANIA VISA

The citizens of the following countries may obtain a visa at any entry point by payment:
FYR Macedonia (10 Euro; at the Embassy 5 Euro), Montenegro (free of charge), Israel (30 Euro).
The citizens of other countries are required to obtain visas at the missions of the Republic of Albania that cover the country of residence.
An entry tax must be payed upon entry to the country, by air, sea or land. The amount varies for different nationalities. The amount for North American and EU citizens is US$5. An exit tax is required at Rinas Airport, which is US$10.

The Albania visa application form is a collection of numerous personal data on the individual applying for the Albanian Visa. Make sure you fill out every required gap.
